In this video, I have visited Statue of Unity – world’s tallest statue. Statue of Unity is in Gujarat (8 kms away from Kevadiya Town). It is dedicated to the Iron Man of India’, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. With the opening of this statue, India has made entry into the club of world’s tallest statue. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was India’s first deputy Prime Minister. He is also known as one of the founding fathers of India. This statue was dream project of our Prime Minister. Narendra Modi ji. Statue of Unity is world’s tallest statue with a height of 182 metre which matches the total number of seats in Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

PM Modi announced about this statue in 2010 when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat and inaugurated it on 31st October 2018. The construction of this statue started in 2014 and it was inaugurated on 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

How to reach ‘Statue of Unity?’

This statue is very well connected to Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The nearest town to reach here is Kevadiya Colony, which is 100 kms southeast of Varodara. You can take a government bus to Kevadiya town from Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The bust ticket will cost you something in between INR 250 to 300. Upon reaching Kevadiya, you can take a ticket to the statue. You will also have to take a bus ticket (INR 30) from this ticket counter. This bus will take you to Statue Of Unity.

You can choose to buy any of the following 3 types of tickets to the Statue of Unity:

General Ticket – INR 120 – (Allows entry near the statue)

Viewing Gallery Ticket – INR 350 (Allows entry near the statue + Museum + Gallery which is the key point of this statue)

VIP or Express Ticket – INR 1,000 (Allows entry near the statue + Museum + Gallery without having to stand in the long queue)

No matter which of the three tickets you choose to buy, you will have to take a bus ticket of INR 30 to reach the statue.

Facts about the ‘Statue Of Unity’:

1. Indian farmers have donated their used farming equipment to the government in order to help them amass iron needed to build the ‘Statue of Unity’.

2. The outer structure of the statue uses 1700 tons of bronze plates, and 1850 tons of bronze cladding.

3. It can withstand winds of 130 km/hour velocity and earthquake measuring 6.5 on Richter scale.

4. The concrete towers that make up the two legs of the statue have 2 elevators. Each of these elevators can carry 26 people at once to the viewing gallery, that too in just 30 seconds.

5. Viewing gallery, which is the heart point of the statue can accommodate 250 people at a time.

6. Statue of Unity has generated more than 15,000 direct jobs for the local tribal folks.

7. The construction cost of this statue is INR 2,989 crore
