In this video, we take a closer look at the winter testing of the highly anticipated BMW i5, the first fully electric 5 Series model. The car underwent a series of grueling tests in extreme winter conditions for a year to demonstrate its stability and dynamic performance.
The testing program included a wide range of driving scenarios, from country roads to motorways and specially prepared test tracks, all with a focus on the car’s ability to drive on low-grip surfaces and at low temperatures. While BMW has yet to reveal any specs for the i5, we’ve heard some exciting rumors about the two introductory models, the i5 eDrive40 and the i5 M60.
The i5 M60 is expected to generate nearly 600 horsepower on both axles, producing 811 pound-feet of torque and an acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph in around 3 seconds, making it one of the quickest BMWs available. Stay tuned for more information about the BMW i5 sedan and i5 Touring.
