The end of life, ELV, management is anticipated from the design phase forward. Materials are therefore specially selected for their recycling potential, in accordance with the principles of the circular economy and car recycling.

PSA and its car recycling process:
1. End-of-life vehicle, ELV, collection at an authorized treatment facility
2. Issuing of a certificate of destruction for a guaranteed traceability
3. Depollution: battery, tires, liquids as brake fluid, fuel, oil, coolant, washer fluid, refrigerant fluid. Waste resulting from the depollution is 100% recovered by accredited companies.
4. Dismantling of parts for reuse
5. Reselling of parts to private individuals or professionals
6. Compaction of the depolluted ELV
7. Transfer of the hulk to a shredder: A shredder capacity of 150 vehicles per hour
8. Sorting of materials after shredding
9. Sorting of metallic materials: 75% of a vehicle is metallic
10. Sorting of plastic materials: 20% of a vehicle is plastic
11. Reselling of materials for recycling or energy recovery

According to our car recycling policy, up to 300 000 ELV originating from our brand’s car dealership are processed each year. PSA Peugeot Citroën is committed to a reuse, recycling or recovering rate of 95% for these end-of-life vehicles.
