Join me in discussing our fond memories of Pixie, as her time has seemingly come to leave us and join her brother on the other side. This video is *NOT* monetized.

After an extensive period of reflection and consideration, Diana and I have decided that it is time to say good-bye to Pixie. Unlike with Wicket, however, we wanted to give y’all a chance to say good-bye as well (as best one can over the internet). I’ll be streaming an unmonetized “living wake” on both YouTube and Twitch tonight, and would certainly RT any Pixie / Wicket photos you might share on Twitter (tagging either Diana or myself). I only had the option to announce Wicket’s situation after he was gone. It’s a bit weird to do a stream on the eve of her death, but… our dogs were a part of your lives during the vlog years, so I’d rather hear happy memories now when we need them most. She’s alive right now. She’s still here.

Pixie had onset periodontal disease around the time of her eye removal in November. Since then, while recovered, has been sleeping more and more (all day / night), doesn’t move around freely as much, and now has loss of coordination like Wicket in his final days. Turns out, she’s lost two pounds (dramatic loss) in a couple of months – muscle mass. We took her to the vet this morning for having recently started drooling (thick, slimy – never did it before in her life). Even if we did teeth extraction (ALL of them), she might not come out of the surgery. That was a calculated risk before. Then, even if THAT was successful, we would have to deal with muscle mass loss – and, at her age, it’s not coming back. Instead of further tests for cancer elsewhere in her body, we are giving her a few pain medications in the interim and deciding to let her go.

She would be 17 years old on April 1st… and forever a puppy in my mind. Always licking, always wagging her tail, rarely barking (except in her sleep), and overwhelmingly sporting a good temperament – the literal opposite of Wicket. Despite their radical differences, we will always love them both equally.

Hello, galaxy! I’m Chris Pirillo, and I love living the geek lifestyle – as a family-loving father, as an entrepreneur, as a Star Wars collector, as a retro video game player, as a LEGO minifigure fan, as a pop culture event producer, as a thrifting junkie, as an ’80s nostalgia kidult, as a toy seeker, as a coupon clipper, as a consumer tech advisor, as a person who loves picking up the digital camera that’s usually sitting inside his smartphone and recording whatever thoughts happen to be in my head at the time (or experiences that I’m happy to share with the world)!

My opinions are 100% my own and do not necessarily reflect the views of Intel or Intel Graphics.
