In this summer makeup tutorial I show how to create a mermaid makeup. When I think of mermaids or sirens, I think of sea, ocean, fish tail, waves and a lot of turquoise blue color. This summer makeup tutorial combines all of these elements into a fun, creative summer mermaid makeup look. Further, this mermaid summer makeup tutorial could be perfect for a themed prom or a party!

When I was little I loved the Disney’s Little Mermaid cartoon. Ariel, the mermaid, was my favorite character and this makeup was actually inspired by her, so we could also name this makeup look the little mermaid makeup tutorial or Ariel inspired makeup or Siren Makeup tutorial. I also loved her mermaid hair – so long and beautiful!

I am starting this summer mermaid makeup tutorial with a cut crease technique, creating a sharp line in the crease and brending it upwards. On the lids I am using a bright turquoise cream shadow and set it with the same colored eyeshadow. Cream shadows are great when you are creating a waterproof makeup. Black gel liner definitely makes this look very edgy and different. To create a perfect winged eyeliner, try to use a precise and dense brush. I created a mermaid tale using a black eyeliner. Just like water or sea drops sparkle in the sun, I added some glitter on the lids.

You can adjust this makeup look or a mermaid transformation to a more wearable makeup if you skip the strong black liners. The bright blue eyeshadow on the lids can be changed to colors of your preference. For me, a mermaid inspired makeup look is not complete without a turquoise color. This color reminds me of summer, sea and beach and it cannot be missed when creating a summer makeup look. Do you think mermaids/Sirens are only mythical sea creatures or could a real life mermaid ever existed?
